Oracle and Windows 7 64 bit

    Question

  • Hello everyone,

    I recently installed windows 7 64 bit on my computer, and in a test with Visual Studio 2008 I realized that I could not connect to Oracle XE.
    Searching the error (ora-06413 connection not open) i found suggestions to install Visual Studio on another folder (other than (x86)). I followed the recommendations but without success.

    Someone would have more suggestions?

  • Most common problem with oracle used to be not having any 64 bit drivers installed, if you haven't already grab 'm from

  • Hello!

    When I install 64-bit ODAC 11.2 Release 3 (11.2.0.2.1) for Windows x64, I create simple console application:

    static void Main(string[] args)
            {
                //DATA SOURCE=XE;DBA PRIVILEGE=SYSDBA;USER ID=SYS
                Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnectionStringBuilder conStr = null;

                conStr = new OracleConnectionStringBuilder();
                conStr.DataSource = "XE";
                conStr.DBAPrivilege = "SYSDBA";
                conStr.UserID = "SYS";
                conStr.Password = "12345";

                string ver = "";
                using (OracleConnection con = new OracleConnection(conStr.ToString()))
                {
                    con.Open();
                    ver = con.ServerVersion;
                    con.Close();
                }
            }

    When I run it, I get exception message with next text: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified

    I found configuration files (sqlnet.ora, tnsnames.ora), but I don't know where copy its.

    Help me please.

    Thanks to all.

  • Bump. I am hitting the same issue (on Windows 7 x64) where the setup.exe for ODAC10203x64 crashes right away. Does anyone know a workaround?
