Crystal Reports and Business Objects Universe

    Question

  • We have Crystal Reports 12 that we use to report from Business Objects Universes.  I downloaded the version of Crystal Reports for VS 2010.  When I go to select a data source the BO Universes are not listed.  Anyone know how to get them listed as datasources?  Can we connect a local SQL Server to the universes and report thru SQL Server connection?

  • Hi jderric,

Stang is correct. CR for VS 2010 is a standalone product with no BOE connectivity. When BOE 4.0 SP 2 is released it will include the SDK to connect and use Reports under the Managed Reporting only, meaning you query the CMS for the report object etc.

BOE 4.0 has been altered and updated, there is a Connection Server now that handle all DB queries including Universes which have also been revamped.

CR 2008 runtime is not officially supported in VS 2010 so stick with CR and VS 2008 for now until you can also update your BOE Server support for 4.0. Also note, CR 2011 is to compliment to BOE 4.0. With the changes CR 2008 won't be able to publish Managed reports to BOE 4.0

    Thank you

    Don
