Support for HTTPS?

    Question

  • Can I profile HTTPS sites in Doloto?

Or perhaps it's my site's authentication that is causing problems.

I've installed Doloto, and am able to profile http sites (and see the traffic streaming by in the monitoring text box), but when I try to hit one of my secured sites, the site appears in the browser just fine, but no traffic is recorded or shows in the Doloto monitoring window.

Winodws Vista. IE8 and FireFox 3.5.2. Running Doloto as admin. Fiddler 2 (plus a lot of other tools) installed.

    Thanks for any info.

  • This is an interesting issue to ponder. IE and other browsers support different proxy settings for HTTP and HTTPS traffic proxies. Have you tried manually setting localhost:8888 as your HTTPS proxy?

  • Could you be facing the same problem as documented in the Fiddler help section?

    http://www.fiddler2.com/Fiddler/help/hookup.asp#Q-LocalTraffic

"IE7 and the .NET Framework are hardcoded not to send requests for Localhost through any proxies, and as a proxy, Fiddler will not receive such traffic."

See the Fiddler page for more info.

An other alternative, is to use stunnel http://www.stunnel.org/

  • Yes, if your application is on localhost, you're likely to be missing the proxy altogether (Doloto uses Fiddler core for training). Use the suggested workaround mentioned at that URL of pointing to http(s)://machine.name/blah.aspx.

  • Hi,

I am facing the same problem as CACrawford was facing. I have manually set the localhost:8888 for HTTPS in the browser. But, Doloto does not record in the monitoring window.

Is there any solution to this problem ?
