Problem with assigning a euro symbol to a recordset field value

    Question

  • Unable to assign a string value to a recordset field which contains a Euro symbol. Rather than showing a Euro symbol it is showing some different symbol. The problem is only in Windows7 but it is working fine in XP....

  • Hello,

I think this should be related this field's encoding. Here's some explaination by Steven Cheng[MSFT] from http://bytes.com/topic/asp-net/answers/324776-displaying-euro-symbol

I think the problem you mentioned is because the
"€" symbol which could be displayed correctly under UTF-8 encoding but
    failed under "ISO-8859-1" is because
    "€" is a three-bytes-character which can't be represented by ISO-8859-1(
Latin-1) charset, the ISO-8859-1 can only represent the standard
one-byte-charaters(0-127 is the standard ASCII CHARS).

    Sorry for any misunderstood.

    Think again!
