GolfRules.exe By The Rules CD software released through US Golf Asso
Upon boot up (+ other options), a famous golf course photo appears with another rule of golf cited & explained.
This is installed on both my desktop & laptop, both WinXPpro 32 SP3
However, the laptop keeps on ticking (it works fine)
but the desktop must have taken a licking, as now any attempt to run GolfRules.exe is met with "Provider not found" It may not be properly installed.
Uninstall everything, reboot, reinstall = failure
MDAC reinstall + other solutions found on internet + all components found = failure
Tried some registry tricks = failure
Hint: when trying to Repair through the XP Control Panel, the last page in this process is looking for the .exe on the installation CD, same name but a slightly larger file ?!?!?! This file cannot be found on either computer.
"Provider not found" is a generic error indicating a database driver is not installed which is required by the software. I would compare both machines and check to see if something is not installed. It can also be caused by an ODBC connection
not being defined.
