Gesture support in Windows 8.1

    Question

  • Apparently there is a new hands-free mode in 8.1 that integrates with web cams to allow for gesture control of Windows and other software.  Where are the API references for this feature?  I looked in the SDK but couldn't find anything relevant.

  • There is no in-box feature like this. The recipe demo at //build used custom code within the app to interpret the camera, not an OS feature.

    Kinect for Windows is close.

  • The UI in 8.1 is the same as 8.

Motion sensing using a web cam is still a research topic, ideally 2 cams are needed for depth

Look into OpenCV which is being maintained by Intel
