SYnc Framework future

    Question

  • I'm going to ask very basic, general question. I have a requirement to support offline capability of my application with SQL Server express edition installed remote laptops.

Currently I have very in-house customized Sync solution  but looking for an alternative that is more scalable and looking at the possibility of using Sync framework.

But not sure what the future hold it for sync framework, I also came to know about Azure Sync Data Service.

For a new development what is recommended?

Sync Framework V2.1 is it the last version.

Sync Data Service - is it replacement for Sync framework for any new development?

    Thanks

  • v2.1 is a the latest version of the framework.

if you want to sync using platforms that cant install the full framework (HTML5, WP, Win8, etc...), you can use the Sync Framework Toolkit.

Sync Data Service is an Azure Service built using Sync Framework, it's not a replacement

  • Thanks for your reply.

So Sync Framework  and/or Sync Framework Toolkit are still good to use for new development, correct?

Thanks for the tips on Sync framework Toolkit to use HTML5, WP, WIN8 apps.
