Migrate Reporting Server from SQL 2005 -> SQL 2008 with the tool

    Question

  • I successfully ran the MigrateUI tool and it generated the script. Everything looks good, but I cannot figure out the values for the variables that it needs. Can someone help me figure out these variables:

    .\Migration.ps1 -TargetSiteUrl http://SharePointSite -Password <SomePassword> -TargetFolderUrl "http://SharePointSite/Shared Documents " -TargetCatalogConnectionString "Data Source=<RS service app catalog server>;Initial Catalog=<SharePoint app catalog>;Integrated Security=True"

I know the TargetURL and the TargetFolderURL but can someone give a real world example of this?

EDiT: When I run it with whatever I believe are the proper parameters I get: CreateCatalogItemSuppressResult : Unable to find type [RS2010.ReportingService2010]: make sure that the assembly containing this type is loaded.

I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2008.

  • There are some comments on using the migration tool here.  Regular migration for Reporting Services installation from SQL Server 2005 to 2008 is covered here.  To backup and restore Reporting Services on SQL Server 2008, see here, and there is a link to the 2005 version of the article.

  • I just need to see a real world example. I don't know what my SharePoint app catalog  or the RS service app catalog server are.
