  • Hello Max,

Now TFS power tools and add-ons has

            Command line tool (TFPT.EXE)
            Team Explorer IDE menu additions
            Build Notification tool
            TFS Best Practices Analyzer
            Process Template Editor
            Work Item Templates
            Custom check-in policies
            TFS Server Manager

There is no office add-ons from TFS power tools and add-ons

There are Work Item Add-in for MS Excel and Project

When you install Team Explorer on your computer,

a work item add-in is installed that enables Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project to communicate with Team Foundation Server. The add-in appears visually as both a Team toolbar, and Team menu. In Microsoft Excel, the add-in displays work items in a list. In Microsoft Project the add-in displays work items as tasks in a project plan.

  • Hi Max,

Hopefully it is not against the rules of the forum to refer to the third party solutions.

I would like to introduce you to Ekobits products that integrate TFS with some of the Microsoft Office tools…

TeamCompanion for Outlook (TCO) is an Add-In for the Microsoft Outlook that integrates Microsoft Outlook with the Team Foundation Server, enabling access to and managing all project related information using only Outlook. With TCO any project stakeholder can communicate, have insight into and update project relevant data in software project hosted by the TFS using only Outlook.

There is fully functional  90 days trial, so feel free to test it yourself! TCO supports Outlook 2003 and 2007 and TFS 2005 and 2008.

TeamCompanion for Excel and TeamCompanion for Project are Add-Ins for Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project that enhance standard TFS integration in a way that you can open and edit Work Items directly from Excel and Project. They are free software and support Excel and Project 2003 and 2007 and TFS 2005 and 2008.

    Kind regards,

    Irena

  • Hi,
Just want to check that if I install Team Explorer after Microsoft Excel and/or Microsoft Project, the add in for work items will be installed? Can someone confirm the different combination of Team Explorer 2005/2008 and Microsoft Excel 2003/2007 and Microsoft Project 2003/2007. I was installing different combination of them, and it seems like it doesn't do install it for certain combinations.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hey,

Here is an outlook add-in that i wrote.   Wit-It! – Outlook Add-in for TFS Work Item Alerts

    Wit-It!

Wit-It! allows you to open work items in various ways without customizing team system event subscription.

    1. Window Form – just like you’d see in Team Explorer
    2. XML
    3. Team System Web Access

Wit-It! will automatically detect which emails comes from TFS and will show you the Wit-It! panel.

    Download Wit-It! - 1.3
    Subscription Email

    Open Work Item in Form

    Outlook Work Item

    Settings Window

    1.Select TFS using local cache

Use this option when your local machine works with TFS.

Use this option when working with multiply TFS servers.

    2.  Manually select TFS - You can set custom connection to TFS

Use this option when working remotely (VPN etc)

Use this option if window user isn’t the TFS user or TFS requires special authorization.

  • Hi,

Do you have a separate version of the tool(bowie) as an add in for Outlook 2003. I wanted to test the tool with Outlook 2003, does it support  Outlook 2003.

    Thanks, Krishna
