During HCK iSCSI storage array (raid array) testing, can the iSNS server be configured to run on the client test computer?

    Question

  • While constructing the HCK environment to test an external  iSCSi raid array, I placed the iSNS server on the

HCK test computer (client). I am asking because I started to test the configuration by running a simple manual

ping test from the HCK. While the test computer is pingable from many machines within the lab the test waits during

the "Echo" test. Currently my configuration consists of only a domain server, the HCK controller (Test server), the client(test computer) and the storage array.

  • Can you confirm if the client is in "Ready" status before you schedule the tests? The error indicates that there were no clients available to run the test.

  • Yes i have verified that its Ready state only.

  • Hi,

Target Name : mentioned the target name.

    Target Portal: 3260

    Target Ip : 192.168.5.8

    Initiator Ip: 0.0.0.0

iSNS Server Ip: same : 0.0.0.0

    Nic Ipaddress : 0.0.0.0

    Nic IP address 2: 0.0.0.0

When i gave the above parameter the test automatically detect initiator nic 2 IP and ask to ping the nic 2 Ip.

    (In my initiator i have 2 nic.(Nic1 : 192.168.5.10 and Nic 2: 192.168.6.10 )).

Why its automatically detect the iniator Nic2 IP?.

  • Hi,

As per the iscsi target ping test document what its means below .

"The second phase verifies the target can send ICMP echo packets to another address, which in this case is the network adapter in the test system" - what its meaning... kindly let me know.
