  • If HDI Emulator was installed successfully you will find Hadoop Command Shell short cut on your desktop

    Open the Hadoop command shell on your desktop in elevated mode and run the following command:

    %HADOOP_NODE%\start-onebox.cmd - To start the services

    %HADOOP_NODE%\stop-onebox.cmd && - To Stop the services

    Alternate :

    Browse to C:\Hadoop and run (double click) start-onebox.cmd to start the services

  • You might be missing entry for "TEMPLETON_HOME=c:\hadoop\templeton-0.1.4" in the environment Variables Under System Variables

    TEMPLETON_HOME=c:\hadoop\templeton-0.1.4

    ** Also Confirm if you see Hadoop  user is created under "local user and groups" if your answer is Yes,  you have hadoop user,

    ** Check if this "hadoop" user is member of "Hadoop Users" Group and confirm if this group exists under groups

  • TEMPLETON_HOME=c:\hadoop\templeton-0.1.4

      Shafi: Done but I could not see any templeton-0.1.4 directory

    ** Also Confirm if you see Hadoop  user is created under "local user and groups" if your answer is Yes,  you have hadoop user,

      Shafi: Yes user exists.

    ** Check if this "hadoop" user is member of "Hadoop Users" Group and confirm if this group exists under groups

      Shafi: Yes user exists in said group

    Still I'm facing same issue

  • Hi Shafi,

    If the emulator is installed successfully, you should see all of the folders listed in the screenshot:

    If you have older version of the emulator installed, you must uninstall the older version before install the new version.  See http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/documentation/articles/hdinsight-get-started-emulator/ . Please also make sure you uninstall both "Hortonworks Data Platform" and "Microsoft HDInsight Emulator" from Programs and Features.

    If uninstalling the application doesn't help (meaning you still don't get all of the folders listed in the screenshot), it could be the uninstallation process corrupted somehow. The Web Platform installer uses the following registry key to determine if the components have been installed or not. That key should be removed during the uninstall:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\CFB337F5ACACF1146ACDA53ADE16F1C1

    To resolve the issue, you can delete the key from the registry.  Modifying registry is very dangerous. Please make sure to backup the key first before delete the key, and make sure you know how to restore the key.

    Jonathan
