Send E-Mail to sharepoint group using SPD workflows not working

    Question

  • I have a sharepoint group with an AD group as user.
    I have created a sharepoint designer workflow with send E-Mail functionality to that sharepoint group.Mails are not being sent to the users of the AD group.

    Any help appericated.

  • Hi,

     

    By using the Send an Email action in the Workflow Designer, you can set up your custom workflow to send e-mail messages to you or to any other specified user or group.

     

    As a simple test, you can create a simple workflow in SharePoint Designer(SPD) that does nothing but send an email.  Let's just try to see if it is a problem with SPD workflows.

     

    Outgoing e-mail settings must be configured on the server before your workflow can send e-mail messages. Did you configure outgoing e-mail settings? If not, please configure it first.

    Please check the following settings:

     

    1.       Make sure the group is a SharePoint group instead of a Windows group. If not, try to create a SharePoint group and test again.

    2.       Make sure the group has own e-mail address;

    3.       Check whether each member of the group has e-mail address.

    4.       When creating SharePoint groups, make sure that each group has at least Read permissions for the site, and that in the Group Settings area of the New Group Page, under Who can view the membership of the group, Everyone is selected.

    Are u using Infopath forms? If yes then i can tell you the solution to send a mail to the users of the group.

  • Hello,

    Are you using a "nested" AD group?  SharePoint does not support nested AD or SharePoint groups.
