Windows Developer Preview (Windows 8) Display Issue

    Question

  • Hi, I recently installed the WDP and everything seems to work fine except my laptop display is 1280x800 but is only running at 1024x768 stretched. I think the cause of this problem is also causing my Live Tiles to not display at all on the start screen. any Help is appreciated. Here are my specs: Acer Aspire 5313, Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.00GHz 4M, 1GB DDR2 RAM, Intel Mobile Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. Thanks again.

  • I also had a display issue on an ASUS T91MT (Atom CPU). WDP only offered 800*600, but the system is capable of 1024*600 under Win7 The only Metro tiles that work for me are Windows Explorer, Control Panel and Desktop. Where is list of feature that should and shouldn't work on this release?

  • Metro style apps wont work with resolutions lower than 1024x768. If you have an intel videocard (like GMA950) you might try this: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=80812 It will enabled native higher resolutions, and will compress them to fit on the screen. It won't look that good but at least the apps will work.

  • I got the same problem, only 1024x768.

At device manager, intel hd graphics has the following "device status: Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device.  To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35)"

the bios version is the last. and I also tried with Graphics drivers from Samsung support website (for windows 7 32 bits), and Intel website with same results.

my laptop specs: Samsung Q530-ja01, Intel core I5 m480 (2.67 ghz), 4 GB ddr3 ram, Intel HD Graphics.

    Thanks

  • Did you try to install the GMA drivers for Windows 7 from the intel homepage?
