Which database type can I populate using a C# Winforms util and then add to an asp.net project?

    Question

  • I want to add a database to my asp.net site/app, but want to populate the database via a C# Winforms utility. Which database can I create and then seamlessly add (populated) to my asp.net project? IOW, I want to populate the tables via my C# Winforms utility, but then query the tables from my asp.net project.

I'm using both Visual Studio and Web Matrix for my Web Pages / asp.net project. Can I create the database in WebMatrix, and then access it for writing from my C# Winforms util?

  • Hello,

Yes, you can try to use SQL Server Compact which is a embedded database engine with your application to create compact databases. After create database and table in the client applications, you can deploy the database on desktop computers, smart devices, and Tablet PCs.
