Can't apply CU5 - option grayed out

    Question

  • Hello,

I have a local, named sql server 2012 sp1 instance running virtualized on an ESX host with VMWare.  We wanted to apply cu5 to this instance and several others for the pages in memory fix.  The others worked fine, this instance the option to choose it for upgrade is grayed out.  There were no errors to provide, it was simply unavailable to apply the update.  The version of this db is 11.0.3000, like all the others that worked fine.

    Anybody?

    Thanks kindly,

    Dianne

    1. Please run discovery report and check version again. (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/petersad/archive/2009/11/13/sql-server-2008-discovery-report.aspx)
    2. Could you please share the setup logs?

  • Hello,

Could you please try to apply SP1 again since Reporting Services (SSRS) requires it?  SSRS is still at RTM level.

Once you reapply SP1, then apply CU5 for SP1.

    Hope this helps.

  • Also verify you downloaded the SP1 CU5, not the pre-SP1 CU5.
