Can't find System.Json.JsonObject in System.Runtime.Serialization.dll for .NET 4.5 (Visual Studio 2012 Released)

    Question

  • I'm trying to use System.Json.JsonObject from System.Runtime.Serialization in a .NET 4.5 project using the released version of Visual Studio 2012.  I get an error trying to reference the System.Json namespace in the C# source code and I don't see this namespace or the JsonObject type in the object browser.  Here's the link to the documentation I've been looking at:

    JsonObject Reference (MSDN)

I've verified that the project is targeting .NET 4.5.  Where are these classes actually located or am I missing something?

  • I've tried pretty hard to locate System.Json.JsonObject in the .NET 4.5 release.  I've tried loading all of the System.* and Microsoft.* assemblies in the GAC into a Windows Forms project with targeting the full .NET 4.5 platform and searching for JsonObject in the object explorer.  I wasn't able to find it.

I did find this article from Telerik explaining how to obtain a beta version of the same thing published by Microsoft.  This will probably work for me.

  • It looks like it can be found here:

  • Hi, Jeff.

The JsonObject Reference (MSDN) page has described it's for preview only.

    So you can't find it.

[This documentation is for preview only, and is subject to change in later releases. Blank topics are included as placeholders.]

The description above is from the page you gave us.
