VEMap using imagery is not upgrated to place changes

    Question

  • I am using VEMap(6.3)  on predefined place by as this commands:

            BC_CENTER = new VELatLong(BC_CENTER_LAT,BC_CENTER_LONG);
            var LA = new VELatLong(BC_CENTER_LAT,BC_CENTER_LONG,BC_ZOOMLEVEL);
            mode=VEMapMode.Mode2D;
            style=VEMapStyle.Road;
            icon = "<div style='font-size:12px;font-weight:bold;border:solid 2px Black;background-color:Aqua;width:50px;'>Shape</div>";

            map = new VEMap('myMap');
            map.LoadMap(LA,BC_ZOOMLEVEL, style, false, mode, true, 1);

    But the Bing Map place view is old. I have this place GeoTiff(tif,png,..) picture.

    How I can change the imagery of this place to new(as on relevant picture)?

  • Not sure what you are asking here. It's possible that the v6.3 map control has older imagery than what is on bing.com/maps or in the Bing Maps v7 control. The v6.3 control is very old and has not seen in update in 3 or 4 years and likely never will. I'd recommend upgrading your app to v7 to get access to not only the most up to date imagery in Bing Maps but to also get access to all the additional features and functionalities in v7, along with having a much smaller map control to load into your page.

  • Thank you  for response.

    But the problem not seems is in the version 6.3 or 7.0, because by enter to:

    http://www.bing.com/maps

    (using v7.0)

    the interesting place is viewed in the same old state.

    My question is:

    what I have to do, to replace the currently map view to really this map place view.?

    Bests.

  • It's not clear what you are trying to do. Do you have imagery you want to add on top of the map? Is the imagery in a different Bing Maps control better than what you are seeing? Can you provide a location and zoom level of the area you are referring to?

  • The imagery in a different Bing Maps controls is the same and it is old.

    May be the word "imagery"  is not right here.I mean the map view of the place:

        protected double centLa = 31.140542;
        protected double centLo = 34.763231;
        protected int zoomL = 14;

    I have the  picture in geotiff(png,ipg) format of currently this place Aerial view.

  • Ok, I think I understand what you are asking for now. You have a GeoTiff image that you want to overlay on top of Bing Maps. In this case there are two ways to go about this. The first option is to overlay the image directly on the map using a method similar to what this module does: http://bingmapsv7modules.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Image%20Overlays This module is for Bing Maps V7 but it should be fairly easy to migrate this to v6.3.

    A second method which will likely be the better method as I suspect the file size of your GeoTiff is large is to turn the image into a tile layer. One easy way to do this is to use MapCruncher to turn the image into a tile layer. http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/projects/mapcruncher/

    Here are a couple of good articles on how to use MapCruncher:

    Also, just for reference, that imagery for the area in question was taken in March of 2011.
