Problem with MSSQL Server 2005

    Question

  • Here is the picture: http://imgur.com/Hde0QQh

I am trying to re-install mySQL server 2005 and I keep getting lots of errors.

Is there any way to fully uninstall everything including the three instances that I made?

One more thing, I kinda fooled around with registry and now I get this: http://imgur.com/UClZUBa whenever I start two of three services related to SQL.

Thank you for your help in advance.

  • Hi,

If you feel you have messed up registry and due to that reason SQL Server install is failing either call Microsoft support to fix the issue or you might have to uninstall OS and reinstal it. But with error you showed I dont think there is problem with registry. Please follow Link Uri has given if that does not helps follow below steps to remove SQL Server manually

    • 1. Uninstall the existing SQL Server  and all the components from the add remove program.
    • 2. Backup the registry .
    • 3. Delete the following keys using regedit:
      • --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
      • --HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
    • 4. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server.
    • 5. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the keys referencing SQL Server.
    • 6. Rename all the SQL Server folders in the computer.
    • 7. Reboot the machine.
