Write access to Program Files (x86) folder under Windows Vista

    Question

  • Hi,

I wanted to follow the instructions on:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/visualc/usingpsdk/

to integrate the Platform SDK into Visual Studio C++ Express.

Even in the administartor account I have no write access and also cannot gain write access to the files mentioned. Even when I log in as normal user and use the virtualization feature, when I restart Visual Studio the files are not changed although saving seems to be successful and Visual Studio starts with the old values. How can I tell Visual Studio and Windows Vista that I really want to write to these files?

    WBR,

    Karsten

PS: I always get a cannot open include file 'afxres.h'.

when I try to compile, although the include path is set.

  • For the PS problem (afxres.h) I have a solution found on my own. The resource compiler must have the include paths, not the C/C++ compiler. Under general the the settings can be done.
