Difference between Visual Studio and Visual Web Developer Express Edition

  • Hello

    I am a newbee in the field of ASP.NET. Please clarify the following doubts of mine.

    1. What is the exact difference between Visual Studio and Visual Web Developer Express Edition if we look at them from the perpective of web develpment ?

    2. If I develope a web application with Visual Web Developer Express Edition, can I launch that application on some host for my small business ?

  • The Express Edition is a great way to get into web development.  You can start out with it and purchase another edition later if need be.  One big difference is that with the non-Web Developer edition you can develop standalone code libraries which you can re-use across multiple web sites.

    You might find the following insightful: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/zcbsd3cz(VS.80).aspx  Note that in the Express column it is marked "Visual Web Developer" where applicable.  Couldn't find this documentation for Visual Studio 2010, but it would be pretty similar.
