Postal Code Boundaries Datasource

    Question

  • We're very excited about Postal Code boundaries, since that's how we determine our Service Regions.  However, it looks like some of these postal codes overlap, or duplicate, and none seem to have any holes (which some do, depending on what data provider you look at).  We currently use MS MapPoint for our boundaries, how do the Bing boundaries compare?  Do they use the same data source, or is Bing using something different?

ps - I understand postal codes aren't truly defined by a boundary, and that postal code boundaries are slightly subjective.

Keep up the good work! You're making many customers happy with these new features :)

  • It's a bit early to give you any answers yet as the service was only released as a preview last week and their will be a lot of changes to it before it is officially released as stated in the documentation. I'm certain that not all the data that is planned to be in this service is available through it yet.
