How to change the input method inside a Windows Store App

    Question

  • Hello, dear all,

Is there any way to change the IME/input method through code in a Windows Store App that it is using? Should the app implement the TSF function?

    Thank you very much!

  • What specifically do you mean by changing the input method?

In general that's a user setting and not something controlled by the app.

  • Hi, Rob,

    Really appreciate your reply!

For an app that provides the remote desktop function, if the keyboard layout on the remote desktop is different with the client, for example, it is FR or DE on the remote desktop, but EN on the client, if the app could change the keyboard layout to FR/DE (given the client has installed the necessary IME/Language/keyboard supporting files), the user experience will be greatly improved -- We've been always improving the user experience for Store App, are we?

In the above example, the keyboard is different. for example, the position of the letter 'a' on an English keyboard is different with the one on a FR keyboard. So if we could switch the keyboard on the client, it would be greatly welcomed by users.

Of course, the IME/keyboard layout change could be per-app based, or system scope. But either is great if it could be implemented through code.

    Any suggestion? Thanks.

  • I'm pretty sure that isn't programmatically settable.
