  • Hi Rajesh,

The error you shown is probably a side effect of the underlying problem.

    Does accessing http://localhost:1000/ReleaseManagement work?

Can you copy the log located here: %TEMP%\Microsoft\ReleaseManagement\12.0\Logs\ReleaseMananagementConsole.log

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

  • Hi Rajesh,

There's no any error during install your Release Management Client for TFS 2013?

Have you installed SharePoint 2013 for your TFS 2013 on the same machine?

On your Release Management Server for TFS 2013 server machine, open IIS Manager, ensure ReleaseManagementAppPool is Started. Then Under Sites node>>Release Management>> selected ReleaseManagement node, and click the Browse*:1000(http) in the right panel, If Release Management server cannot be opened in browser, check which detailed message you will receive.

  • Hi John,

I am installed the Release Management Client successfully. But after the launch it prompt the Configure Services window and i point out the web server name and clik ok . It throws error. "The Server specified could not be reached."  The webserver i pointed is the default one "http://localhost:1000/".

I am installed the TFS 2013 on the same machine  but not installed the sharepoint 2013.

Also in the IIS m browsed the the ReleaseManagement node and it shows nothing in the browser.

Then i changed the Url as "http://localhost:1000/" and then i got the following error. In think there is problem with the webservices. Also m changed the authentication and checked. Then also no change. During the installation of Release Management Server everything was configured successfully. THe credential m configured has the adminn rights.

  • Hi Rajesh,

    Thanks for your reply.

Please open the Configure Release Management Server dialog from your Release Management Server machine, what’s the URL it show in there?

Open Release Management Server in IE, we should type http://servername:1000/ReleaseManagement in IE to connect it.

When connect to Release Management Server from your Release Management Client, in the Configure Service dialog, you should only type your Release Management Server’s servername as the Web Server Name in that dialog to connect.

  • Hi John,

In the  Configure Release Management Server it shows the the below url.

    http://zew-v-0ac2807a:1000/ReleaseManagement

I am opened the the same url in IE and it shows nothing in that IE page.

Also in the Configure Service dialog, typed the Web Server Name as zew-v-0ac2807a and tried to connect but there was no change in the error. "The Server specified could not be reached."

    Thanks,

    Rajesh

  • Hi Rajesh,

    Thanks for your reply.

If you cannot access the RM web server http://zew-v-0ac2801a:1000/ReleaseManagement in browser, we can ensure this issue relate to your Release Management Server.

Can you ensure the ReleaseManagementAppPool is Started in your IIS Management?

In your Configure Release Management Server dialog, re-click Apply settings button, all the settings can run successfully?

  • Hi John,

In the IIS, checked the ReleaseManagement AppPool and its running.

In the configure Release Management Server dialog again re-clicked the Apply setting and it configured everything successfully.

    Still the same problem exists.

    Thanks,

    Rajesh

  • Hi Rajesh,

Do you install and configure the Release Management Client on the server machine? Also take a look at the event logs in the Event Viewer to see if there is anything useful, if so, post here.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Vicky,

We installed the Release Management Server and in the Configure Release Management Server dialog box everything configured successfully without any errors.

After i installed the Release Management Client and in the Configure Services dialog box give the werbserver name (localhost) it throws the error "The server could not be reached" and i tried with the server name but no change in the error.

After that i tried to browse the Release Management Virtual directory Webservice(http://localhost:1000/ReleaseManagement) from IIS 7.5 and in the browser it shows nothing .

If i browse the Application Pool Release Management without the virtual directory(http://localhost:1000/). I got the following error.

  • It has been found that the error message

Cannot find CacheManager instance name Cache Manager

is related to having ESB 2.1 toolkit installed on the same machine. This gets installed as part BizTalk 2010 Server.

To fix the issue, first take a backup of the esb.config file. Then merge the following sections from the client config file (ReleaseManagementConsole.exe.config) into the esb.config file.

    <configSections> and <cachingConfiguration>

Note that the same error can happen when running the Deployment Agent on a machine where ESB 2.1 toolkit is installed. The same fix can be applied, but taking the config sections from configuration of the Agent (DeploymentAgent.exe.config).
