Cannot find KeycodeV2.dll, or invalid keycode

    Question

  • Hi,

I made a VB.NET application using Visual Studio .NET 2003 Pro that connects to an Access Database on a main server. The development machine operates on Windows XP Pro. The client machine is Windows 2000.

I've been to many sites regarding this. So, I've already added the 6 merge modules (including Crystal_regwiz2003.msm and I have the correct Key Code obtained from having registered Crystal Reports and have tried the Key Code found under Help > About... > Crystal Reports), I have also registered crqe.dll on the client machine, bootsrapped the .NET Framework, downloaded MDAC on to the client machine, etc.

And yes, I have gone through all of Business Objects Articles.

If anyone can figure this out, I'd appreciate it. No one has been able to yet. I usually figure these things out sooner or later, but this time I'm stumped.

ps. I just found this and it works  add these merge modules and it flys.

  • You need to register CR (using a registration key) - have you done that?

  • Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I registered it then they sent an e-mail with the Key Code in it. So, when I expanded the MergeModuleProperty of the Crystal_regwiz2003 merge module I tried using that Key Code under the License Key Property. I also tried using the Key Code under the About Menu in the IDE (both are valid; 19 digit).

  • I remember getting that exact same error message a few years back and it had to do with the registration.

  • Yeah, that's the only thing that I can think of as well. I even tried typing the key code with the dashes and then again without the dashes, but that doesn't make a difference. There must be something I'm not doing regarding the registration. Or with my luck it is something totally different.

  • Do i just need to copy them files in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Merge Modules folder?

I am creating standalone exes which are ran over the network from a main server. will this method still work if i copy these files to each client machine?

This is so silly, all this stuff should be incorporated into the .NET Framework lol.

    Thanks

  • This worked for me, too, thanks to someone on this forum that indicated it. I also added the the License Key in the Crystal_regwiz2003.msm under the MergeModuleProperties. I used the key that I received in my email when I registered Crystal Reports on the BusinessObjects's website. It is a 19 digit key that looks like AAP50-GS00000-U7000RN.

  • One thing that caught me out initially was that when I installed my deployment project I set the option to install "Only For Me".  Which obviously meant that the keycode or whatever wasn't available to the ASP.NET account etc.

So make sure you install for Everyone.

  • hi,
i am using .Net 2003 version & using crystal reports for the same. But i did not register the crystal reports. Whenever I open the crystal report page, it alerted me for registration, but i dont know anything about that. I am the developer & I use Win 2000 & it generates the report on my PC, but when i created the setup for my project, it is not working at the machine where deployed. Please suggest a solution for the same ASAP.How will it work on the server machine.
I have used C#.Net for coding.

  • Hi,

I'm using VS2003 and am facing the same problem eventhough I have included

    Crystal_Database_Access2003.msm
    Crystal_Database_Access2003_enu.msm

    Crystal_Managed2003.msm
    Crystal_regwiz2003.msm
    VC_User_CRT71_RTL_X86_---.msm
    VC_User_STL71_RTL_X86_---.msm

into the Merge Module and put License Key at  Crystal_regwiz2003.msm.

May I know where can I change the setting for option to install "Only for me" to "Everyone"? Hope this option can help.

    Thanks!
