websitepanel can't be install on windows server 2012

    Question

  • I am trying to install websitepanel 1.21 and 1.22 on windows server 2012, but it comes an error which tells me that asp.net is not install on my system.

    Of course I have intalled asp.net and started it.

    Could anyone help me with the problem?

  • I think error is quite straightforward. WSP 1.2.1 installer works correctly (but IIS8 provider will be available in upcoming 1.2.2 version) under Windows 2012 (it just makes differences if IIS is version 6 and 7 or later so it also covers version 8) but you must install correctly all ASP.NET extensions in server manager which looks completely different than one which was in Win2008.

  • You need to install Framework 3.5 as well. If you can check if that's installed and let me know. Also upload any screenshots.

  • Webio - We modified the installer itself to detect latest needs in all OS so this might be a Beta issue. I would like to have more feedback so that we can make sure it's working properly.

  • I am experiencing the same issue. I have installed .Net 3.5 SP1/2.0 fully using dism. Application pool has been set to alllow 32 bit applications. The installer is returning an invalid namespace error via WMI (the installer also attempts to add an user to the IIS_WPG group, which does not exist with IIS8, and does not attempt to create the group).

    The server itself is not the member of an Active Directory and I am installing as the Administrator user. This is using the current 1.2.2 msi package at /releases/view/81837 Extensions for .Net 3.5 have been configured in IIS manager. I am installing onto non-RC image version 6.2.9200.16384  of Windows Server 2012.

    The same error occurs during "standalone" or "server" installation, although the WMI call is made earlier in the standalone install so it fails earlier.

    Any input is appreciated.

  • Here is the log data for the installer. WMI is fine on my server (this is a fresh installation). The default namespace path is root\cimv2 which if I remember correctly hasn't changes since 2008 - Im not familiar enough with 2012 yet to say if there is a permissions issue or what.

  • If someone has ever downloaded 1.2.2 beta they could have old 1.2.2 bits cached in "Data" folder. So, the common advice before trying another 1.2.2 build refresh cleanup "Data" folder inside installer folder.

  • Can you send a copy of your Installler.log (located in the Installer Directory Under WebsitePanel in Program Files (X86 if you are 64bit). Send to info@websitepanel.net. We will inspect it and get back to you.

  • Yes, Log will be helpful!

    "Data" folder is a folder inside "c:\program files (x86)\websitepanel installer".

  • Is there any new news regarding websitepanel installing on Windows 2012?

    Looks like there was discussion 7 days ago then no other comments?

    The installer is detecting IIS 8 and I thought all the asp.net stuff is installed but I can't get the install of just the server to complete.

    A little further down I see errors on IIS_WPG group not existing.

    Looks like it is downloading this version of the server WebsitePanel-Server-1.2.1.6 .

    Are others having success or should I be using a beta version for Windows 2012 support?

    Thanks,

    James Whittington

  • Download the latest installer from www.websitepanel.net/downloads for beta 2.0 and make sure the web.service key is set like this below.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <configuration>
     <configSections>
      <section name="installer" type="WebsitePanel.Installer.Configuration.InstallerSection, WebsitePanel.Installer.Core"/>
     </configSections>
     <installer>
      <!-- Installed components -->
      <components/>
      <!-- Studio settings -->
      <settings>
       <add key="Log.FileName" value="WebsitePanel.Installer.log" />
       <add key="Web.Service" value="http://www.websitepanel.net/Services/InstallerService-Beta.asmx" />
       <add key="Web.AutoCheck" value="False" />
       <add key="Web.Proxy.UseProxy" value="false" />
       <add key="Web.Proxy.Address" value="" />
       <add key="Web.Proxy.UserName" value="" />
