Use SCRUM 2.0 with TFS 2010?

    Question

  • I plan to move to VS 2012 ASAP and stay with TFS 2010 for a while.  I notice that the new SCRUM 2.0 template for Team Projects is only available on VS 2012, and the SCRUM 1.0 template is no longer available.

    I have 2 questions:

    1. Can I use the SCRUM 2.0 Team Project template with TFS 2010?
    2. Has anyone seen a gap analysis of SCRUM 1.0 vs 2.0?  From the few blurbs I've found, I haven't seen any radical difference.

    Thanks

  • Hi raydukes,

    Thank you for your post.

    1. As far as i know, Microsoft VS Scrum 2.0 which is available with TFS 2012 RC, cannot upload scrum 1.0 to TFS 2010.

    2. There are some differences between Scrum 1.0 and Scrum 20.
First, default available WIT are different. Scrum 1.0 has 7 WIT , Scrum 2.0 has 5. Scrum 2.0 does not contain Sprint, and Shared step WIT any more.

Second, Scrum 2.0 engage stakeholders through continuous feedback. This experience uses the feedback request and feedback response types of work items.

Third, Scrum 2.0 support to request and perform a code review.

For Scrum 1.0, you can refer to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff731587(v=vs.100).aspx

For Scrum 2.0, you can refer to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff731587(v=vs.110).aspx

  • Hi Lily,

About your sentence "1. As far as i know, Microsoft VS Scrum 2.0 which is available with TFS 2012 RC, cannot upload scrum 1.0 to TFS 2010."

Do you mean "1. As far as i know, the SCRUM 2.0 Team Project template cannot be uploaded by  TFS2010"?

It seems Scrum 2.0 template allows to easily change the order of PBIs in the Product Backlog. With Scrum 1.0 template, we had to pass by the print to do this ordering. Is that right?

    Thanks!

    Julien.

  • It's been a while I know but the question "Can the SCRUM 2.0 Team Project template be loaded in TFS2010"? remains unanswered. And I can't seem to find many references to this online. It seems that the expectation is that everyone has moved to TFS2012 ??

I would really like to know, and if it can be supported in TFS2010, can the SCRUM 2.0 template sit beside the SCRUM v1.0 template? OR would the v2.0 template override the existing v1.0 template (for which we have many existing projects referencing)?
