SSIS 2008 R2 in Cluster. Error

    Question

  • Hi guys

I need some help from you.

Sql 2008 R2 clusteer with 2 instances (VS are Virtual Names):

    VS1/InstanceA

    VS2/InstanceB

The cluster works fine without issues.

    Problem:

I have configured the SS Integration Services in the cluster belonging to the VS2/Instance group.

I successfully connect to SSIS (from SQL Management Studio) by using the VS2 virtual name, but when I try to open the MSDB folder I get the error: Failed to retrieve... The SQL Server instance specified.... (A log error message).

    Could you help me?

    Thanks

  • Hi guys,

I have solved the problem, but I need clarification (see later):

    1) To Add SSIS as cluster service I have followed the doc: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345193.aspx but I got the problem as explained.

    2) Then, searching in the web I found this link that solved the issue:

    http://tech.lanesnotes.com/2012/02/ssis-and-msdb-packages-in-clustered.html

The doc says to modify the genuine xml file at the installation folder with references to the SQL VirtualServer\Instance.

    3) Applying the suggestion, now the issue looks solved.

    QUESTION:

At this point I do not understand:

The step to modify the registry key and add the xml file in a shared folder is still needed as described in MS article?

    Thanks

  • I am still try to understand how SSIS works in cluster.

I have found out that in My cluster instakllation the registry key about the xml file is not present.

I tried to add the xml file directory as key in the registry as stated in the MS document but I have found out that it is automatically delete by the system.

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks
