DirectX 11.2 tiled ressource tiers?

    Question

  • What is the difference between each tier & what hardware supports the best one? I'm looking to buy a 11.2dev pc (as in, to test everything including performance on, not just to develop before 11.2 is live) so i would like to understand the difference between each tier, which one is best, and find some compatible hardware with the best tier.

    Thanks!

NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined objects and unknown namespaces.

  • Unfortunately, the general answer here for when vendors will support different features is to contact the various vendors' developer support organizations.

    http://developer.intel.com/

    https://developer.nvidia.com/

Thanks a lot, while i expect i can't get an answer from Microsoft on the HW/support side i would really like an answer on what each tier actually is (is it sparse vs unbound textures?)

I understand but i'm hoping another dev already has a driver that reports HW support for those features on 8.1 preview so i thought asking this as a bonus question here was worth a shot since i really wanted to be sure what each tier did to begin with.

Chucks post only address the secondary concern (hardware support) & redirects me to HW makers, my main concern is what each tier does (regardless of which hardware supports it) which hasn't been answered & isn't documented, there are 2 tiers, what does each one do?
