I can't create a release build from my SDK based project. I'm using VisualStudio 2008. The reason seems to be that I use a SDK created Project - since in other projects the release option is possible. I tried to set it in the Configuration Manager but only
"debug" option was shown .The application I would like to create is not yet registered. Is that the reason?
It has to do with how the project is created. You can easily see this witin Visual Studio 2008 Directly.
1. Create a new web application by going to File -> New -> Web Site. You will see the same behavior that you are indicating above.
2. Create a new Web application by going to File -> New -> Project. Choose Visual C#, select Web and choose ASP.NET Web Application and hit OK. You will see the build options you were expecting.
The difference here is whether or not the Web Site actually has a Project File or not. Option 1, is a file based web site, so there is no project. The creation through the HealthVault Application Manager uses this approach and doesn't actually
generate a Visual Studio project or solution file. Option 2 is an actual Visual Studio Project which accounts for the different Visual Studio build options.
You can get to this, but would require some manual effort on your part. Create a new project based web site, add the appropriate references to the SDK, add the appropriate items to the web.config and inherit from the proper clases.
