  • I updated the schema by restructuring it a bit and adding several missing records.  From email response:

Take a look at the attached schema.  I believe there is additional structure (repeating sequence or choice groups), but this should at least get you started.

The flat file wizard is great for generating records, however it is difficult to use when nested repeating sequences are needed.

The main changes I made were to add a Tag for each record (include the '*' to make the records infix rather than prefix), added several missing records deleted the extra generated fields because you didn't specify a tag.

  • Try setting the ParserOptimization to "Complexity" and increase the look ahead to 10.  If this doesn't work, post a sample flat file for us to look at.

  • If you send me your current schema, I'll take a quick look and see if I can get it working.  Send the schema and the test instance files zipped up to my MSDN email at ddownin@hotmail.com

NOTE: please include the test instance file, because cutting/pasting from a web page can modify the actual data.

  • Why can't you use the EDI Schema/Disassembler?
    Wednesday, July 17, 2013 6:13 PM
  • EDI Schema?disassembler is not supporting above flat file
    Thursday, July 18, 2013 4:31 AM
  • Are you sure that's not an EDI File?  It's looks like X12.  An 850 actually.

  • Yes, the 850 has several Loops.  If you look at the x12 850, you'll see them.

Other than the missing ST/SE, what about this file isn't supported by the EDI Disassembler?

  • ISA, GS, GE, IEA...

  • True, since all the headers were missing, I assumed the OP has posted a partial interchange.
    Thursday, July 18, 2013 6:37 PM
  • That would be my guess as well... because the EDI processing is bound to the processing of the entire EDI interchange, this is probably his only option.

  • If these messages were arriving at my Receive Location, I would:

    1. Find out why the the headers are missing and ask they be retained.

    2. Inject my own ISA etc, into the stream prior to the EDI Disassembler.

If ffdasm really is the only option, modifying the x12 schema, by change the extensions, may be a viable option.  Probably just by changing some attribute names, like the Tag.  The Record and Field delimiters are consistent so they should flow from the top.
