how to change windows mobile 6.5 start screen layout

    Question

  • One thing i observed about the "start screen" in windows mobile 6.5 is that in portrait mode number of icon columns is 3 and this fits the screen well but when the screen is rotated to landscape, icon columns are still 3, even when more number of columns can fit.

can you please help me to fix this and also please let me know how i can change the start screen layout. i want to change the honeycomb layout to simple grid layout.

please let me know if i am not clear, i will provide more details.

  • i got to know how to change the layout of the start screen.

    Here it goes:
    1. Start screen layout is maintained in a *.cpr file and its located at the following path:
                 "\windows\StartMenu_GridScene_screen-resolution.cpr"
           ex: "\windows\StartMenu_GridScene_480x800.cpr"

    2. This cpr file is renamed xml file

    3. copy this file to your desktop and change the extension to xml

    4. open the file in a xml editor and change it as per your requirement

    5. rename it back with cpr extension

    6. copy it back to the device/emulator replacing the existing file

    7. reboot the device/emulator

NOTE: don't forget to take a backup of original file.

    Hope it will be helpfu

  • I have one more requirement.

My mobile has querty keyboard. when i slide it open, mobile screen switches to landscape mode. And in this mode the start screen can display very less number of icons. So when i type a character on my keyboard, shortcut starting with the typed character should come into focus. If the icon is not visible then start screen should scroll and the icon should appear at the start or middle of the screen. If someone has any idea on how to do this please help me. i dont want to scroll everytime and i cannot put all the icons at the top :(
