Window Mobil 6.5 Multi Touch support

    Question

  • I am working in Windows Embedded Handlheld 6.5 Professional device(Build 29036.5.3.12).

I am developing a applicaiton which requires mult-touch for zoom-in and out.

I cannot find any Gesture command for mult-touch notification. Is there any any Gesture command available for mult-touch ?

How to find whether my device supports multi-touch ?

  • Start by touching it with your finger without applying any pressure. If it does not react then you probably have resistive touch screen and there's no multi-touch support in hardware. To verify touch the screen in two points. If it reacts as if you're touching it in between these points then it's resistive touch screen again. Another test is to touch it with a passive plastic stylus. If it reacts then it's resistive touch screen, no multi-touch.

Even if your device has capacitive touch screen with multi-touch (extremely unlikely) AFAIK there's no OS level support for it but there can be OEM hooks. The only WM 6.x device with multi-touch I know of (HTC HD2) has something like this.

  • Thanks for reply Ilya.

My device is having capacitive touch and today i noticed that i can able to do multi-touch pinch and zoom gesture in Internet Explorer.

Any idea how IE is handling the multi-touch gestures if there's no OS level support?
