Remove article transactional replication

    Question

  • I have three dbs that are replicated at the moment. All three of them have been initialized from backup. No snapshot agent run.

I want to remove from one database, an article and I get a warning that I will have to reinitialize the subscription. Why ius that happening?

The ss of the waring is here: http://postimg.org/image/ino21ml23/

Why is this happening? i did the same in another publication and did not have any problems.

    Thanks in advance

  • Hello,

Did you means that you remove a article from other publisher databases of transactional replication without reinitialized?
Most publication and article properties can be changed after create replication, but some require that the snapshot be regenerated and/or subscriptions be reinitialized.
For example, for transactional replication, articles can be dropped with no special considerations prior to subscriptions being created. However, if an article is dropped after one or more subscriptions is created, the subscriptions must be dropped, recreated, and synchronized.
Please refer to the article which provides information about actions requirement when change publication and article properties:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms152745.aspx

  • The problem was that I did not close the agents. Once I closed the agents I could remove the article. Make the changes needed and then readd it with the changed primary key!

  • Is this merge replication? If it is transactional replication it could be because you have the immediate sync option on one publication but not the other.
