Windows 7 end of life

    Question

  • Trying to find out when  windows 7 hit its end of life.  In particular I'm trying to find out when retails sales will be stopped, or Microsoft begins selling windows 7 for a higher price.

  • This information has not been released yet.  The Windows lifecycle fact sheet (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/products/lifecycle) still lists the point at which Windows 7 will no longer be sold as "To be determined".

Note that Windows Vista became unavailable for retail sales exactly 1 year after 7 was released, and XP was 1.5 years after Vista was released.  I would expect Windows 7 to be similar (which would make it stop being available late 2013 or early 2014, as Windows 8 was available to public on Oct 26th 2012), but there has been no announcements at this point.

  • Of course there are still downgrade rights to xp at the moment, you just can't buy it straight off the shelf.

Win 8 pro no good to you?

I use the desktip most of the time and almost all software I had on my development machine has been compatible.

I think sandisk installer is the only thing I noticed had a problem.
