WIAAUT.DLL and Vista

    Question

  • I have a VB app that uses the WIA to get scans from ADF scanners.
It works great in XP, but Vista has a newer version of WIA, and the program throws an error when I try to use it.

The error reads: Failed to load control 'CommonDialog' from wiaaut.dll. Your version of of wiaaut.dll may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the contol that was provided with your application.

Anyone know of a way to get around this?

  • Hi Andy,

It is the best option to post this issue to Software Development for Windows Vista for the better answers. Also read this PPT about UI customization. It shows Context menu is only supplied in WindowsXp and Windows 2003.

    Best regards,
    Riquel

  • Sorry it's taken so long...
Apparently the checkbox "Subscribe to Alerts for this thread" is broken...

I may just start rewriting this app using VB.Net 2008 (it should happen eventually anyway)
