Sql Server 2012 Developer Edition install failure

    Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to install SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition (MSDN Licence) from an ISO on my local disk

My OS is Windows 7 SP 1 64 bit

The prereq tests all pass, but the installation fails at the Install Setup Files stage. Below is the description of the error from the Detail_ComponentUpdate log file

  • Hello,

Please go to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn folder using the Command Prompt (with elevated privileges). Make sure setup installed a DLL file name SQLTaskConnections.dll, then run the following command:

    regsvr32 SQLTaskConnections.dll

If you don’t want setup to get updates because you feel it the cause of the problem, then run setup as

    setup.exe /ACTION=Install /UpdateEnabled=False

    Try to run setup again.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the prompt response. I installed with no updates (but by using a config file because I didn't know there was a switch). Should I attempt to install the updates now, if so what's the best way?

    Thanks,

    Vincent Crowe

  • Hello,

You can download SQL Server 2012 SP1 from the following link:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35575

Then apply CU5 from the following link:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2861107

Do not apply CU3 and CU4, apply CU5.

    Hope this helps.
