How do I connect database from Microsoft Access to Visual studio 2010

    Question

  • How do I connect a database in Microsoft Access to Visual Studio 2010. How do I also ensure that the database that is updated in Microsoft Access will also be updated in Visual Studio 2010?

  • Hi,

a microsoft access database is a plain file. If you access one physical file from access and visual studio, then each will see the changes done.

And you can connect to an access database through code. The OleDb* classes are very usefull for this. Just check the documentation of the classes OleDbConnection and OleDbCommand for a first start.

And you can also use the Server Explorer to connect to an access database. Just open the Server Explorer window, right click on Data Connections -> Add connection ... There you can choose Microsoft Access Database File.

    With kind regards,

    Konrad
