Sharepoint Power view using SSAS 2008 R2 Cube

    Question

  • i have configured sharepoint 2010 with power view (Installed sql server 2012 CU4 + SSRS 2012 add-in ) but however i need to connect ssas 2008 R2 Cube.

    i am unable to connect and i see the below error message

    "an error occurred while loading the model for the item or data source power view"

    so the question is , does the power view support SSAS 2008 Multidimensional model?

    thanks

  • yes you can use sql 2008 ssas as a data source.

    the problem could be with how you are authenticating to the ssas cube. if you don't have kerberos delegation setup correctly. then you will have to use secure store to store the credentials which are needed to connect to SSAS. and the connection will have to be created to use the Secure Store credential.

    val it: unit=()

  • Hi Inamarras,

    Please try to change the Analysis Services instance from multidimensional mode to tabular mode which reslove the same issue on the thread below.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/0be1ed0b-6b84-4d1b-962d-80462c9f266d/sql-server-2012-sharpointpowerpivot-an-error-occurred-while-loading-the-model-for-the-item-or

    For the detail steps about how to change it, please refer to following blog.
