Bus Stop distance threshold

    Question

  • I am using REST for transit planning but in many of my cases I get this error: "One or more waypoints can't be routed because they are too far from any roads". My Origin/Destinations are not far from a road, but they maybe far from a bus stop of transit station. so I am wondering if anybody knows what REST considers as the maximum distance to a bus stop or station.

  • Ok, I don't think this is a distance type limitation. I believe the way the transit directions work is that there are bounding boxes based on where we have transit data. If your location is outside of that bounding box then it won't calculate transit directions.

  • Can you provide an example start and end point so I can do some testing?

  • Here is an example: from 41.2776,-88.28377 to 41.23668,-88.24398

This is the Exception message that is thrown: "One or more waypoints can't be routed because they aretoo far from any roads"

and this is the bing.com/maps website message: "There's no transit information for this location. Please choose another method of transportation."

For this case, it seems the transit information does not actually exists, but in general, how far is considered "too far"?
