Answered How to get a PMP-PE Certificate

    Hi

Looking at the document pmp-sign.doc on

     http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlogo/drvsign/Pmp-sign.mspx

It mentions the process for getting a PMP-PE certificate using a mail alias pmpcert@microsoft.com that the document says will expire in the Vista beta timeframe, is there a new process or is this address still the correct one as I have had no reply from that alias so far. Can you please let me know how to go about getting a PMP-PE certificate.

    Thanks

    John

    Hi John,

From the documentation that you have mentioned, PMP-PE Certificate seems to be expired after the Windows Vista Beta 2 timeframe.   Based on my understanding, we need to win the PMP signing for the later version of Windows Vista.   For the contact email for PMP signing, I will consult to the corresponding product units and keep you informed.

Thank you for your patient & have a nice day!

    Best Regards,

Thanks for looking into this for me, the situation does seem a bit confused.

Some additional information on the background

<quote>Specifically i have a custom EVR mixer that works fine for TV but doesn't work when DVD playback is started.</quote>

DVD playback does not use PMP. Are you trying to get your mixer to work in Windows Media Player, or in a custom DirectShow application?

    From the product team:

PE signing should be irrelevant here. I suspect the custom mixer doesn't work for DVD playback for other reasons. Perhaps the custom mixer is not handling substreams. Also, Windows Media Player always uses the default mixer.

Thanks for getting back to me, it is certainly possible (likely even) that I haven't yet hit the signing problem but i'm sure I will at some point and I'm trying to understand what the signing requirements will be in order to have a custom mixer usable for playback of all types of content in both MF and DS environments including PMP in all players including media player and MCE.

My assumption was that as DVD enables macrovision some check is performed on the playback path, are you saying this assumption is incorrect, my current mixer does support sub-streams so I don't think that's it but I'll certainly check where I'm getting a failure from memory it loading up OK but no methods were called, which is why I was assuming some kind of post load check was being performed.

But as above I would still like an answer to the question on signing process and requirements.

    Hi John,

For the PMP signing process and requirements, I think we can refer to the document from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlogo/drvsign/Pmp-sign.mspx.

For the PMP signing consult alias, I will keep you informed as soon as I get any new information.

    Have a nice day!

Thanks for the update, looking forward to knowing the correct alias.

    Mike

I've checked the issue I was getting using my custom mixer with DVD, it is a very strange issue I'm having, it's intermittent and seems to be timing related, possibly as you suggest to do with sub-streams.  I strongly suspect the issue is on my side so thank you for looking into this and apologies for jumping to conclusions too early.

    Thanks

    Hi John,

The alias is correct.  But please understand that with the release of Windows 7, the PMP signing for Windows Vista will be under lower priority.

Besides, as Mike has suggested, the PE signing is not suitable for your case.  I have confirmed it by the reply from the certain product team.

    Have a nice weekend!

Any news on this I still haven't heard back anything back from the alias.

    Hi Michael,

Could you please clarify if the PMP signing is still valid for Windows 7? I've tried to contact pmpcert@microsoft.com a week ago, but did not get any reply.

We are developing a custom Remote Desktop audio endpoint enumerator DLL, which needs to load into protected process (audiodg.exe, Windows Audio Device Graph Isolation). But it fails to do so because of failed sgnature validation. Here is the message we see in the event log:
"Code Integrity determined that the page hashes of an image file are not valid. The file could be improperly signed without page hashes or corrupt due to unauthorized modification. The invalid hashes could indicate a potential disk device error."

It would be great if you can direct me to the right person who is in charge for the PMP certificates.

    Thanks.
