Where to get DPInst for Windows 2000 (ver. 2.0)?

Hello everyone,

blindly believing the passage "DPInst supports installing signed Plug and Play (PnP) function drivers and signed class filter drivers starting with Microsoft Windows 2000." from the DPInst Dev Center Page, I recently included DPInst into our setup to install our drivers. Unfortunately the Windows 2000 support seems only to be true for DPInst 2.0 or lower, not for 2.1, which is included in the Windows Driver Kit 7, that we are using.

Trying to use DPInst 2.1 on Windows 2000 always gets me "No driver packages found." in the DPInst log.

As we will certainly need to support Windows 2000 with our software, I would like to use an older version of DPInst on these machines, but I can't find it anywhere. I understand it was included in the Windows Driver Kit 6000, which also doesn't seem to be available anymore on trustworthy pages (downloading it from torrent-blabla.blabla or similar pages is out of the question).

So, can anyone tell me where I can get WDK 6000 or DPInst 2.0?

Do you have win2k "RTM" or with SP4/5?

We have Win2k SP 4. This is also the minimum version we are supporting.

Thanks for your answer, you are right, WDK 6000 is available. Unfortunately I was wrong assuming that this version includes DIFx/DPInst 2.0 or 2.01, it also comes with version 2.1.

edit: I was wrong. DPInst included in WDK 6000 / 6001 works with Windows 2000, although the version number of the file is 2.1.0.0. I assume this is because the actual version number 2.01 is displayed as 2.1.

Thanks, it's useful to know that dpinst won't run even on SP4.
