Power Pivot Beta Software Has Expired
-

Had been happily working with Power Pivot with Office 2010 beta for several months. However, this morning (1 April!) got message "Your beta software has expired. Use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel to remove the beta software from your computer. After the beta software is uninstalled, you can install a more recent version.". I did take a fresh download from http://www.powerpivot.com/download.aspx and uninstalled/reinstalled but it made no difference. (Not surprising as fresh download was exactly the same name and size as the original download.)
Where do I get the fresh download from? Many thanks. Breadon

To change time in R9.2 virtual machine for Hyper-V the solution is to open Settings for VM, select “Integration Services” and clear check-box “Time synchronization”.

Freitag, 2. April 2010 13:20Ivan's suggestion related to turning off the time synch and rolling back the time of the image worked fine for me - a more long term fix would be appreciated by the PowerPivot team, but this will get us by.

apparently the term "release soon" is a relative term in comparison to glaciers.
Has any body heard when they are going to actually re-gen the beta

As a temporary work around I did the following:
1. Stop service: Windows Time
2. Set clock back to any time prior to April 1st.
This seems to work. If you don't diable the time service, the clock will re-sync and the problem creeps back.

Lisa,
I downloaded the version from the above mentioned web-site. The new file has a revision of "{92DD884B-3290-4AAA-89AF-575E0782AD82}". I uninstalled the old version and installed the new one and yet, I get the same error. Any insights you could provide will be helpful.

There could be some delay replicating the revised copy to the server. From my downloads 5 mintues ago, both 32bit and 64bit from http://www.powerpivot.com/download.aspx point to the correct version with timestamp of 4/5/2010 if you right click PowerPivot_for_Excel.msi and check Origin section under Details tab. If you still see timestamp of 11/1/2009, it is the old version.
Please keep us posted on how it goes.
Thanks,
Lisa

As announced on the PowerPivot team blog:
The PowerPivot team is pleased to report that the fix for the November CTP expiration issue has been released. We know many of you have been eagerly awaiting this fix since last week when the PowerPivot for Excel add-in expired. We do sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.
We have released a new version of the November CTP for the PowerPivot for Excel add-in. This new version is functionally identical to the old one except that it extends the expiration date to end of the year. You can download it from the same locations as in the past:
Please note that the new version will take some time to replicate across all servers in the Microsoft download center. If you download it from the above links and still get the expiration error message, then try again periodically. It might also help to clear any browser/download caches on your computer.

Donnerstag, 8. April 2010 12:33I had to clear my browser cache. Once I did that, I was able to pull down the updated MSI. Thanks.

Have you tried to clear your cache as stated above? I just tried from a new machine and it downloaded successfully with the new date from the links above from Kathy.
IE6 clear cache: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/using/howto/customizing/clearcache.mspx
IE 8 clear cache: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/260897?p=1In the properties of the file, under the 'details' tab, the 'content created' date was the new April date, not the old Jan date.
