Hello all, recently on an older SQL 2005 Cluster (on Windows 2003R2) we encountered the following event associated with a service restart:
Shutting down database due to exception 2905 during VLR processing at commit.
The service was restarted on the same node, no failover to the other node occurred.
Thoughts?

Hi APR,
I think first you need to apply SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 to see if it would be work.
If you have any problem, please feel free to let me know.

Hi APR,
SQL Server Services tries to come online on the same node (3 times) prior to getting faileover to other node. With regard to exception that you received which brought SQL Service shut down, I think we need to read the logs (SQL Error Logs, Event Logs, Cluster Logs) and then find what happen.

That is most likely what we'll do, but I would still like to know what the error is actually indicating. Oh well, more digging :)
Thanks!
