    Hi,

I wanted to create a new DVWP for one custom list so that it will be available in the other site which is in same site collection. I successfully created DVWP but I'm not able to export that web part for that particular list . When I click EXPORT it is showing me "UnExpected error", which is common error.aspx page in sharepoint. I followed same procedure for other lists and for them it is working fine.

First I thought it was because it has many fields for each item, later I slected only two columns to display in that webpart. I didn't work.

So whereelse I can check to make it working, can anybody please guide me how to achieve this?

    Thanks, Hitchs

    Hi ,

I understand that you have added a data view web part to display a custom list .But there is an error when exporting the data view web part .Since other list data view web part can be exported correctly .It is the list which causes the error .You should first check the error log for more detailed information .The error log is located here: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\Logs .Use the Correlation ID on the error.aspx page to search the error message .

    Thanks,

    Hi Entan,

Actually there is no Correlation ID showing up, it's just error page which I attached below. Anyways, I tried to look in the log files but nothing is being recorded and event Viewer, as well.

    Thanks, Hitchs

I figured out why it is causing this issue. The list which I was trying have more than 35 columns and I guess, DVWP cannot handle the list which has many columns.

I tested it out on the same list by deleting some columns and created DVWP, it worked. So I realized DVWP can't handle the list which has many columns.

    Thanks, Hitchs
