please help with laser range finder from professional microsoft development studio

Hello, I tried to recreate the Laser range finder sample in MRDS in VPL and I was wondering what do I put as the values in the properties of the data connections between the sensor and the Evaluate activity block.

I need to understand how this works and as there is no sample of VPL i could find to download, I need to recreate it. heres how my code looks below.

There is an error in one of my IF statements in my evaluate block but I don't understand whats happening. any help would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

I’m guessing that you’re trying to go through the Laser Range Finder section in chapter 11 of the “big red MRDS book” from Wrox press? You can actually download all of the samples from here: http://www.wrox.com/WileyCDA/WroxTitle/productCd-0470141077,descCd-DOWNLOAD.html

However, opening this particular sample, I see the same error. In general, there is no guarantee that RDS is backward compatible with the book.

I believe that you can work around the issue of indexing into a list of ints by breaking the expression out and using the GetIndex list function. Something like the following:
