Hello everyone,
I have just started using MRDS for the purpose of making a 6 legged robot simulation and I’m running into some basic problems. I have installed Visual Studio 2010 along with MRDS 2008 Beta. I am able to run the ‘welcome’ command in the DSS command prompt and I can even run some basic simulation environment. However, when I attempt to do the first basic simulation example on page 278 of the Professional Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio book, when I debug the program after making it, an error occurs on the command prompt…… After this, I when I open any simulation environment, the same error occurs. Can anyone help?
even 'welcome' thing is not working anymore and gives the following output.

Did you run the setup? You need to build all of the samples.

Welcome.cmd just runs a service called First Service. Can you try compiling it manually? You can find it in:
ProMRDS\Chapter1\FirstServiceCompiled

The book samples are not officially supported by Microsoft (though people on the forum may be able to help with them)
That being said, I am very curious becuase you say "After this, I when I open any simulation environment, the same error occurs". I'd really like to undestand that problem.
Can you clarify for me what you mean by "...it works Manually"... what is "Manually"? Is that hitting F5 in Visual Studio?
Also, can you check the syntax of the startup command in the VS project? Is it the same as what is being used from the command line (batch file)?
Also, when you say "any simulation" produces the same error... that includes running the simulations from the start menu when no other RDS applications are running?
Also, is there any additional information in the debugger log? (accessed from the http://localhost:50000 and selecting "Debug and Trace Messages"Thanks,
