MFC dialog based project in VS2005 SP1

Question

I am facing problems in initializing a dialog in a dialog based project in VS2005 sp1. I created a sample dialog based application wherein I added another dialog to go from the main dialog on click of any button. I simply created an object of second dialog and called the DoModal() function in the button click event to open the second dialog but the application gives some exception and crashes at the DoModal() call.

This problem was not persistent in VS2005. But it is happening in its service pack 1. What could be the problem here. I was using smart device dialog based project template. please advise ASAP.
