Cannot see added fields on old entries ; TF237124 error when trying to save

Hello
Cannot seem to find exactly the answer I'm looking for after searching through the forums.
Complete beginner to TFS. Our company uses VS2010.
I added a couple a new fields(Environment,GroupEnteredBy) to our Bug Work Item which I made REQUIRED and ALLOWEDVALUES. However, when I attempt look at previously entered Bug Work Items, the fields are not visible. In addition, when I attempt to change anything on the old bug WI, I receive a "TF237124: Work Item is not ready to save" error.
This seems like adding a simple field should be a pretty standard out of the box thing that should have no problems, but alas I am. I saw over on StackOverFlow that this might be a bug. If so, wondering if it has been addressed. Or if there is a work around?
Thank you in advance
Daniel

Maybe a stupid question, but did you add the fields to the editor as well?
From: http://tedgustaf.com/en/blog/2011/1/how-to-customize-tfs-2010-work-items-and-workflows/
When we’re done we can switch to the Layout tab to add our field to the work item editor:
We’ll set a label for the control and select the field we created earlier:

Daniel,
Lets check if your changes got saved correctly.
Hoping you have process template editor installed, if not, install the latest tfs power tools and you should have it.
Open visual studio, go to tools, process editor, work item types, open work item from server. Can you see the new fields you added here? Can you confirm that these fields have been added to the layout, as highlighted by Jesse above.
Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help.

For this issue, as our members said, please ensure you added your new fields under Layout tab.
If misunderstood anything, please describe your question in more detail and we will be able to provide the better responses.
