Unable to Connect to TFS

Question

Hi All,

While I connect to Team Foundation Server from Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, I am getting below error.

TFS31002: Unable to connect to team foundation server.Possible reason for failuer include: and so on...

Though user has been added as “Administration Console User” in TFS Administration Console as a Admin.

Please let me know what are possible reasons that user not able to connect the server though he is having Admin rights.

Please guide me to resolve this issue.

Make sure you are supplying the collection name in the path when you make the connection (DefaultCollection if you didn't specify one).  Without this, you'll get this error.  Make sure you include the trailing slash.

http://server:8080/tfs/CollectionName/

If this not help you, try to show the window that has the path to your TFS

Hi Amar1982,

Are you behind a proxy [1]? Are you able to browse to http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-SG/tfssetup/thread/6851d878-a8d3-4b43-8628-be84bd269eb2

Can you follow the instructions in the video here to turn on tracing on the tfs server and share the trace logs.

Thank you for your post.

What's the version of your TFS?
Are there any error messages in the Application Event Log on the TFS-AT?
Can you navigate to http://servername:8080/services/v1.0/ServerStatus.asmx?
Can you connect to TFS in TFS-AT machine?
Can you open TFS Administration Console?

If you are using TFS 2010, try to apply TFS SP1.
