    Receiving the following error:

"TFS255050:A connection cannot be made to the report server WMI provider. Verify the following:
1.You have entered the correct name for the server, including the instance name.
2.The Windows Management Instrumentation service is running on the server
3.the service is not blocked by Windows Firewall
4.You have required permissions to connect
    Details:
    Access is denied.(Exception from HRESULT:0x80070005(E_AccessDenied)"

Tried the resolutions presented in the following post, but still got the same results: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/tfssetup/thread/23a214c4-cb98-4c89-a5d0-a9ebe02cc200

Reports server was not previously set up on the previous TFS version, so not sure if this is part of the issue. Using a machine to set this up on a virtual server (upgrading).

    Please advise

    Hello BossHogg20,

To deal with your issue, please make sure the listed items:

1). Your reporting server you are using is online. Are you be able to access the reporting server via IE?

2). The user account you are using should be one member of the Content Manager group of of the reporting server.

3). In addition, please also make sure the user account you are using has the required permissions to acccess the Tfs2010OlapReportDS and Tfs2010ReportDS data-sources in the http://ReportServer:80/Reports site.

In addition, do you install the Reporting Server and TFS server on the same or different machines?

    Thanks.

Yes, I was able to access the reporting server via IE.

Will need to double check to make sure #2 was completed, but I believe it has been.

TFS and SQL reports are on two separate servers.

    Hello BossHogg20,

I personally think that your issue should be related to permissions of the user account you are using. Please double check-it and then update the information.

    Thanks.

Any other places that would have permission issues that you recommend checking?

    Hello BossHogg20,

Please have a check of the following two things:

1). The user account you are using must be in the Content Manager role on the server that is running SQL Server Reporting Service. Please go to the report server site: http://reportServer:80/Reports In the site, click the Properties tab, and then click New Role Assignment. In Group or user name, type the name of the service account that you will use for Team Foundation Server (TFSSERVICE), select the
Content Manager check box and then click OK.

2). Make sure the Report Server Mode is configured as "Native" not "SharePoint Integrated". Open the Reporting Service Configuration Manager, you will see the Report Server Mode information from the home page.

    Thanks.

It's looking like somewhere in there my permissions are not set up correctly. Was able to have one of the IT guys get past the part I had issues with.

Okay, so I had all permissions set up correctly.  For me, it ended up being a port number...

I'm running Server 2012 w/ Hyper V.  My TFS 2012 servers are VMs.  In Windows Firewall on the reporting server, there is a port called "Virtual Machine Monitoring (RPC)" that was disabled by default.  I enabled the rule and I was successfully able to populate my reporting URLs.

    See the below image.
